Candle's arm...at the time this incident happened, Juliet was the surgeon for dharmaville...even though it would seem that only his hand was injured because of Miles intervention-without Juliet, is there really any qualified medical personnel left to intervene and save this man's arm? I think not. Which is why it's not just his hand-but his arm that must be amputated, maybe even in order to save his life. who know?

You're wrong tho, Juliet was the mechanic in 1977 Dharmaville. She got pulled in to deliver a baby because she is a fertility doctor in 2004.

maybe his arm wasn't hurt that bad at first and he was able to use it for the filming of the orchid vid, but maybe he had problems with it and they amputated it later

lol i love how i'm making elaborate scenarios in my head to explain this when it's prolly just a silly continutiy error

Amputate? He had an arm. He never moved it, granted, so it is possible it's a fake arm, but then it could just be a dead or injured arm hanging off to the side. THe Island does have healing properties, so he could have healed it after making the Swan tape.

i have always just figured it had been amputated. by the original swan video it appears to be a very fake arm.

Just watched the season 2 episode where we see the swan video.Chang clearly says that the incident happened after the Swan was built after several experiments.

They did build the Hatch. The dude was putting the numbers on the door. The door is the last thing you put on a house.

It was a building site,nowhere near finished.Chang told us in S2 that the incident happened after several experiments there,so its either a production error or the losties incident wasnt the incident Chang was referring to.

I don't know... I thought that dig site was the shaft that the hatch door was located, which was like down the hall and around the corner from the rest of the Swan Station. That was essentially the "back door". It's possible that most of the station was already built at this point, and since Radzinski seemed in a real hurry to continue his experiments, I just figured he was already working in the space during construction.

i got the impression he was still designing the station, and the team at the site were just digging the space out ready for construction. remember the little model he had of the domed area, when Sayid was brought into The Flame?

It's really hard to know for certain. I'm picking up the fifth season this week. I just can't imagine the snafu on the producers' side if that's the case. Faraday said that that was the exact moment the Incident was to take place. So, unless they were messing with time the entire time they were there (slowing production of the Swan), Faraday was wrong, or we're looking at an alternate 1977 from what the Island had in 2007, then the show screwed up big time.

there have been several comtinuity errors in the show's history, so i guess we can't rule out a major mistake. i'd like to think they know what they're doing though..

i picked up something else today. in LaFleur, just before we find out that Sawyer and Juliet are in love, we see a bottle of Dharma Merlot on the table, when Sawyer walks in the door. the Dharma symbol on that bottle is of The Swan (i'll get a shot of it if you want). but if that station wasn't yet built, why would stock be labelled with that logo?

This is my point exactly. I think it's jumping to conclusion that the station wasn't built. Plus, why would they breach the pocket before they had something built to monitor it? Kinda putting the cart before the horse.

Also, Season five doesn't hit shelves (at least in the states) until December 8. So I still gotta wait a whole month before I can verify anything there. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to take up the time by watching the first four all over again. Time well wasted.
