Character Connections w/Theory Speculation

Okay, in this list are all the connections that we've found and all the theories for possible connections that people have come up with. At least, I try to get all of them. Please feel free to post if you think of or find any more so I can add them on.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not taking all the credit for finding or thinking of all of these, I just collected them

Connections
Sun + Jin = married.

Michael + Walt = father and son.

Shannon + Boone = Shannon's father married Boone's mother so they are stepsiblings.

Libby + Hurley = Were romantically involved before Libby was killed.

Shannon + Sayid = Were romantically involved before Shannon was killed.

Jin + Hurley = Hurley is on TV for winning the lottery when Jin goes to 'talk' to the environmental secretary. It was filmed during the day, so it can't be a shot of when the TV reporters first find him at the gas station, that was at night.

Sayid + Hurley = Sayid served in the Republican Guard, Hurley's friend served in the 104th Airborne, both fought in the Gulf War.

Hurley + Locke #1= Hurley is the majority shareholder in a box company in Tustin, California. Locke worked as a regional collection supervisor at that box company.

Hurley + Locke #2= Hurley's manager at Mr. Cluck’s is Locke’s boss, Randy, at the box company. In case you don’t remember who I’m talking about, he is the guy that ridicules Locke for wanting to go on a walkabout. And Hurley and Johnny spell ‘CLUCK YOU’ in gnomes on his lawn. Plus, it’s kind of ironic if you think about it, because Hurley now owns Locke’s box company, so technically, Randy is working for Hurley now.

Locke + Hurley #3= Locke's mom was put in the same Californian psychiatric hospital, the Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute (SRMHI), as Hurley and his crazy friend Lenny.

Libby + Hurley = In one episode Hurley asks Libby if he knows her from somewhere. It turns out she was in the same mental asylum as him.

Locke + Charlie = Locke is a fan of Driveshaft, Charlie's band. Locke has both of Charlie’s albums and his self-titled debut.

Kate + Charlie = Kate's friend Beth is a 'huge fan' of Driveshaft.

Charlie + Shannon = Charlie's shirt (in the episode 'the Moth') said "St. Tropez" which is where Shannon said she lived in France. Charlie was probably on tour there. (link)

Shannon + Danielle Rousseau = Danielle had the lyrics to "La Mer" written down for some reason, and Shannon knew the song when she was in Saint Tropez with 'this guy' who had a kid, Laurent, who watched 'the cartoon about fish, you know, one of the computer ones?' over and over again. "La Mer" was one of the songs on the movie. Shannon was probably the guy's au pair, or nanny. (link to the lyrics of "La Mer")

Danielle Rousseau + Hurley + 4*8*15*16*23*42 + Everyone = While out at sea, Danielle's team picked up a transmission repeating the numbers, which led them to shipwreck on the island. Lenny and his friend Sam Toomey(sp?) heard the numbers at a listening post in the Pacific Ocean. Hurley used them to win the lottery and they 'cursed' him. Almost all the survivors have had connections to one or more of the numbers.

Boone + Sawyer = Sawyer is in the Australian police station when Boone is there looking for help.

Sawyer + Jack = Sawyer met Jack's dad, Christian, in a bar in Sydney.

Kate + Walt = When Kate goes to pick up the letter about her mom (in episode 'Born to Run'), the clerk is playing on a GameBoy Advance SP. They come in different colors, but it was silver just like the one Walt was playing on (in episode 'Exodus'). (link)

Sawyer + Hurley = The lotto-girl, Mary-Jo, that announced Hurley's numbers is the same girl that Sawyer was with when Hibbs suprised him in his hotel room.

Shannon + Jack~Sarah = Sarah, Jack’s wife-to-be, was in a car crash with Shannon's dad, Adam. Jack was called to the ER but he didn’t save Mr. Rutherford, he instead helped Sarah, so he died on the operating table. It is strange though, because they were both supposedly hit by 'an SUV.' Taken from Sledgeweb’s Lost ... Stuff (because I liked how they said it):
Jack + Desmond = Desmond and Jack met late one night running steps at a stadium. Desmond encouraged Jack to "change his angle" and made him think about the possibility of Sarah being able to walk again.

Kate + Jin~Sun = Kate's 'good' father, Sam Austen, was stationed in Korea before she was born. Jin and Sun are both Korean.

Kate + Sayid = In 'What Kate Did' when Kate enters the office to speak to her father, there is a shot of a television in the left corner and Sayid is on it. It looks like he is being taken prisoner by a group of soldiers.

Kate + Sayid = In 'One of Them,' we see the above scene over again. There are also many flashback scenes with Kate's good father with Sayid.

Sawyer + Kate = In 'the Long Con,' Kate's mom was in Sawyer's flashback. She was the waitress at the restaurant.

Hurley + Charlie = In 'Everybody Hates Hugo,' Hurley is seen in a CD store with his friend Johnny. They try to sing along to the Driveshaft song, "You All, Everybody." Johnny says, "More like Suckshaft."

Jack + Claire = Could they be siblings? It seems very likely after watching Christian Shepard's conversation with an Australian woman in the episode, "Two for the Road." Also, go read these posts by buffyfan145 and liquorcart for more > (link)

Locke + Nadia = Nadia, Sayid's lover in Iraq, moved to the United States and settled down in Irvine, California. Nadia purchased a home there and had it inspected by John Locke.

Charlie + Hurley = The priest Charlie talks to in the confessional is the same person that Hurley buys the scooter from in the airport. (not confirmed)

Eko + Claire = Both met the same Australian psychic, Richard Malkin.

Desmond + Libby = Libby met Desmond in a cafe and lent him a boat for an around the world race.

Jack + Ana-Lucia = Ana-Lucia met and worked for Jack's father, Christian.

Ana-Lucia~Christian + Sawyer = Sawyer literally walked into the door of the car Ana and Cristian were sitting in while in Sydney, Australia.

Dogs = There are a few threads about dogs. There are five different instances of dogs on Lost so far:

1. We have our Yellow Labrador Retriever, Vincent, of course.
2. Locke picks up a flyer about a lost dog. (here or here)
3. Locke's foster mom's Golden Retriever. (link to Locke's dog story, top half)
4. The Shar Pei dog that Jin gives to Sun that he took from the environmental secretary. Its name is/was 'Po Po,' which in Korean means, 'a kiss.'
5. Hurley had a dog as a kid. His name was Buster. (link to Hurley's dog story, bottom half)

Theories (not all are mine, the *’s are mine)
Locke + Jack or Boone = Jack or Boone could have been the little boy in the "Mousetrap" scene in DEM.

Boone + Anyone = Boone could possibly be connected to any of these people by way of his mother's bridal company: *

• Jack could have been getting married to Sarah through Boone's mother's bridal company. (link and link)
• Bryan Porter and Walt's mom, Susan.
• Kate and whomever she married.
• Charlie's brother Liam and his wife, Karen.
• Anyone else that has gotten married.

Danielle + Kate = Danielle's team member Montand could be Kate's buddy Ray from Australia. Montand lost his arm and Ray has a prosthetic arm (in Tabula Rasa). Also, Dr. Marvin Candle from the DHARMA Swan film has a prosthetic arm. (link)

Kate + Hurley #1 = Ray the farmer (see above post) could have known Sam Toomey before Sam killed himself. Both of them are older Australians. *

Kate + Hurley #2 = When Kate goes to the post-office (in episode 'Born to Run'), the clerk pulls her letter out of a shoe box with the brand name, Brown Shoe. This company could be Hurley's shoe factory that burnt down in Canada. (link) *

Hurley + Ethan = If Ethan was off the island and in Ontario, Canada one year before the crash he could have owned a pair of shoes from Hurley's shoe company (see above theory). (link)

Sawyer + Walt = In the conversation between Walt's mom, Susan, and her husband, Brian Porter, Susan mentions something about an immigration problem and that she is a lawyer (link to this conversation). Maybe her client was none other than Sawyer. He was in Australia and was arrested for reasons we don't yet know. (link)

Jack + Kate #1 = Jack and Tom Brennan (Kate's childhood friend/ 'lover') are/were both doctors, so its possible that they may have gone to the same medical school and/or worked with each other sometime in the past. (link)

Jack + Kate #2 = Kate told Charlie that she has a friend named Beth who loves Driveshaft. Jack tried to save a woman who died in the Operating Room because of Christian Shepard (Jack's dad). Jack called the woman Beth, so she is in all likelihood the same Beth that is Kate's friend. (link)

Kate + Jack #3 = Remember that guy at the beginning of 'Born to Run'? The guy that walked out of the hotel with some luggage and the two kids fighting? He kind of looks like the guy that Christian Shepard was talking to about his pregnant wife's death (could be Beth, read above theory). If that theory and this one turn out to be true, then that would mean that Beth was giving birth to her third child. (link) *

Locke + Sawyer = Locke's dad, Mr. Cooper, could be the original Sawyer. He asks Locke, “Do you think you're the first person that ever got conned?” The original Sawyer that caused the death of our Sawyer’s parents was obviously a con man. Locke dad could be about the right age. ... / ... Carrying on the theory that Locke's father was the original Sawyer, and that Lockes mother had an affair with Sawyer/Locke's Dad, is it at all possible that Mr. Sawyer is Sawyer's (James Ford) real father? That would make Sawyer and Locke brothers. (taken from link)

Claire + Unknown Passenger = "Did another plane passenger visit the same psychic? Does this explain how psychic knew of plane crash? From a previous reading?"(link)

Kate + Michael + Locke + Jin~Sun = The car that Kate & Tom hit is the same one that hit Michael and the same one that backed into Locke when he was chasing his mom. Could this be the kind of car that Mr. Paik, Sun's father, sells?
(tipntop says that the car is a Pontiac Bonneville SE in this post/ it looks the same as pictures from Google)

Shoes + Everyone = There have been a few threads about the shoes in Lost. Some people think there is some special significance to the character's shoes. (link)

Sayid + Hurley = As stated toward's the top of the list, Hurley had a buddy that served in the 104th Airborne and Sayid served in the Republican Guard during the Gulf War. In the episode "Everyone Hates Hugo," we are introduced to two of Hurley's friends (or possibly ex-friends), Starla and Johnny. Either of them could be the buddy that was in the 104th Airborne. But if I had to, I would put more money on Starla than Johnny. *

Sayid + Hurley = That buddy that Hurley had from the 104th Airborne could have been the pilot that the US military was trying to get back safely in the episode, 'One of Them.'

Kate + Sawyer = In "What Kate Did," we find out that Kate was headed to Florida. Could she and Sawyer have had some sort of connection during Sawyer's "Tampa Job"?

Michael + Claire = Michael was an artist, and so was Thomas, Claire's ex-boyfriend. Could Michael and Thomas have known/met each other through a job or something?

Claire + Desmond = The woman trying to adopt Claire's baby looks a lot like the woman in Desmond's photo.

Walt + Desmond = Walt's nanny in 'Special 1X14' looks a lot like the woman in Desmond's photo by his bed in 'Orientation 2X3.' If Walt's nanny is Desmond's wife/girlfriend, then certainly Walt must know Desmond.

Libby + Locke/Hurley = Libby is a clinical psychologist. Locke tells 'phone Helen' about a therapist, could be Libby. Hurley used to be crazy, could have been one of Libby's patients.

Danielle + Shannon = I know this is a huge stretch, but Philippe (the father of Sophie, one of Shannon's ballet students) could have some connection to Danielle because they are both French. But now that Shannon is dead, the only way we would have a chance of figuring this out is if Danielle becomes a main character and has a flashback episode. *

Shannon~Boone + Sawyer = Shannon's Australian boyfriend Brian was washing a sailboat at a dock in Sydney when Boone came to talk to him in 'Hearts & Minds.' In the next episode, 'Outlaws,' Sawyer goes to a boat dock in Sydney to get the guy that he uses to kill Frank Duckett. It could very well be the same dock. *

Jin + Ana = Perhaps that car that Jin sold was given to Christian Shepard and was the getaway car Ana Lucia drove for him. (from IHeartLibby)

Claire + Fenry = About the pictures by Claire's boyfrirend, Thomas, looking eerily like the ones in the hatch... Well I was thinking, Doesn't he look like Henry Gale, I mean SO MUCH? (from IHeartLibby)

At the Airport & Hotel
Sayid + Shannon = Sayid asked Shannon to watch his bags and later she turned him in for leaving unattended luggage.

Charlie + Hurley = Hurley tried to get on the hotel elevator but it was full. Charlie was riding on the elevator. "Some of us have a bloody flight to make!"

Hurley + Arzt = Hurley tried to cut in line two people ahead of Leslie.

Jack + Jin = In Jack's first episode, you see Jin standing in line behind Jack, and vice versa for Jin's episode.

Michael + Locke = While Michael is talking to his mom on the phone, Locke is wheeled by behind him.

Jack + Ana Lucia = Jack met Ana at an airport bar before the flight. She flirted with him, asked Jack about his dad and if he's married. They agreed to meet on the plane for a drink, but that didn't happen. (link to their conversation)

Claire + the Pilot = In one of the deleted scenes on the DVD set, Claire is in an airport coffee shop. A pilot stops and talks to her. They figure out that she is going to be on his flight. Claire is really nervous about the whole psychic thing and the pilot tells her a story and makes her feel a little better.

Rose + Locke = While waiting to board the plane at the airport, Rose dropped something out of her purse. Locke rolled up in his wheelchair and handed it back to her. So Rose knows that Locke couldn't walk before the crash.

Interactions on the Plane
Claire + Arzt = Arzt helped Claire with her luggage.

Jack + Locke = Exchanged quick, friendly grins.

Hurley + Walt = Hurley gave Walt a thumbs-up and Walt smiled at him.

Walt + Michael = Walt and Michael sat next to each other.

Kate + the Marshall = Kate was sitting next to the marshal (Edward Mars) as a prisoner. She essentially saved his life by putting on his oxygen mask for him after he is knocked unconscious.

Jack + Rose = Jack sat across the row from Rose and comforted her because she was nervous without her husband, Bernard, who was in the bathroom.

Shannon + Boone = Being siblings, they sat next to each other.

Charlie + Jack~Rose + Shannon~Boone = Charlie squeezed past both pairs on his escape from Cindy and some of the male flight attendants.

Eko + Libby = Libby stopped to break up an argument between the psychic's daughter and Eko.

Jack + Cindy = Cindy gives Jack two bottles of liquor in the air before the crash.

Ana Lucia + the Marshall = Technically it's not an interaction, but when the plane crashed, they were both hit in the head by suitcases.

I think that you could view this as more than a friendly grin. There kinda was momnet between the two. Also when you said that both characters said don't tell me what i cant do, it gets me thinking that they are kinda the same. When some one said that Locke and echo were two sides of the one coin, Jack and locke could be viewed as being made of the same substance, just at opposite ends of the spectrum (Man of science man of faith concecpt).

In the deleted scenes on the Season 1 DVD, Claire and the pilot have a conversation and the Pilot says that his mom was involved with a man named Bernard who was really wealthy. Could this be our Bernard, or just a coincidence?

Okay, first off:
Just so you guys know, I haven't bothered updating the "Repeated Phrases" section for a while because on the Fuselage, there is a group of people creating what they call the Long Lost List. They have been collecting a massive amount of Lost information for a very long time. It's awesome. One of the sections is all about repeated phrases. I can't give the the link directly to the LLL yet, since they aren't opening it to the public until New Year's. But I have the link because I helped them by making transcripts of all the deleted scenes of the DVDs. So yes, lkopans, I know about the possible Bernard connection. Thanks, though. I think it was mentioned in the orginal Connections thread, too. *shrugs* I gave the leader of the LLL a link here and she said she'd check it out soon. Some of the things we have here they haven't seen yet.

Anyway, I'll add these new things on when I get on later tonight.

I swear I updated this, but now I don't see the updates. I changed the color and added stuff. But I think it's just because when they updated the script of the forum, my internet connection still doesn't agree with it. For example, I still can't see a thread that I created yesterday in 'General Lost Discussion', but I know it's there.

Anyway, maybe one of our lostaways was a member of the Peace Corp and has a connection with Eko in that way. I've been trying to connect him to others in some way and this is the best I can come up with.

Shannon tripped when she was looking for Walt. Sayid tripped when he was chasing Shannon, and Shannon was shot. if Sayid had not have tripped would he had been the one shot instead of Shannon? could he have stopped Shannon from being shot?

Hurley's mom tripped over the curb and broke her ankle, and Hurley realized the house was on fire.

Jack trips racing Desmond at the stadium on row number 23. Desmond comes over and talks to him. if Jack hadn't hurt himself, would he have stopped running to talk to Desmond?

when guarding the camp from the Others. Boone hears an alarm go off but trips and Vincent runs up to lick his face, Sayid thinks Vincent set off the alarm but soon after a lady finds dead Scott @ the beach.

in Numbers Hurley and Charlie start running when someone shots at them, he trips and looks up to see Danielle standing there point a rifle at him. and he asks her about the numbers.

Locke is about to blow up the hatch and tells everyone to clear out, while moving away Hurley trips over something, sees that the cursed numbers are on it, and yells for Locke to stop, but Locke doesn't, and blows up the hatch.

Jack trips chasing his father and ends up hanging off a cliff, where Locke saved him.

Well, I don't think it was ever said what branch of the military Lenny was in. I think we just know that he was stationed at a listening post in the Pacific. So would he be in the Navy?

I'm sure you can find one somewhere, but I just searched really quick and couldn't find one. This isn't what you want, but when I Googled "character connections to 4 8 15 16 23 42" it pulled up a page that had this:

Assign each letter of the alphabet a number so that 1 is A, 2 is B, etc. up to 26 for Z. Then wrap back to the beginning so that 27 is A again, 28 is B, 29 is C, and so on.

4: The 4th letter in the alphabet is D
8: The 8th letter in the alphabet is H
15: If you add 4 + 8 + 15, you get 27 which wraps back to A.
16: 4 + 8 + 15 = 27, and 4 + 8 + 15 + 16 = 43. 27 + 43 = 70 which gives you a R.
23: 16 + 23 = 39, which is M.
42: 4 + 8 + 15 + 16 + 23 = 66, and 23 + 42 = 65. 65 + 66 = 131 which is an A.

How/why the heck to people take the time to come up with stuff like that? I got it off of this site. They talk about the number a lot, but they argue so much over how relevent the stuff is that it's hard to keep track of what they're discussing.

I had this one up for a while last season, but then I watched the episodes and I thought that they looked like different people so I took it out. But then I looked at the credits somewhere and saw that they're played by the same people. So, what the heck, I'll add it on again.

Well, don't forget that Goodwin was supposedly in the Peace Corp. And I see where you're going with this, but I'm going to wait until after Eko's episode before I add anything.

Okay, I'm also going to add Kate's dad being in Korea = Jin/Sun are Korean.

Also adding Libby possibly being connected to Locke or Hurley since she is a therapist. Remember Locke tells 'phone Helen' about a therapist and Hurley used to be crazy.
